Even though this game is free-to-play, it gives you a wide variety of content from the start, as well as a ton of unlockable content. There's actually a couple artists I recognized in here, including Akira Complex, Cranky (Who, once again, has ported Conflict to this game), and even HiTECH NINJA (lapix). Arcaea is not one of those games.Ĭontent: 8/10- Kinda small but great music selection. Sure, other games like Sound Voltex may utilize a 3D interface, but could otherwise be reworked to play in 2D. Unlike SDVX, where the difficulty comes from turning knobs, the upper notes in Arcaea will move up, down, and even have tap along them! This is basically the first full-3D rhythm game I've ever played. Like SVDX, gameplay is split between two halves- The bottom of the screen, where you tap and hold notes moving across four lanes, and the top of the screen, where you're sliding your finger across colored lines. Gameplay: 10/10- I said this earlier: This game has been constantly compared to Sound Voltex, but it's got very little in common with that game, gameplay-wise. This is probably the first full-3D rhythm game I’ve ever played. I’ll probably do a more in-depth review later, but here’s my main comment- It looks like SVDX, people here are comparing it to SDVX, but this game is very, very different. Saw that this game was free, decided to give it a try. Lastly, I'd like say that this game even runs while still maintaining 60 FPS on my old school iPad 2 running iOS 9.3.5, which also surprised the hell out of me.Cytus II, Stellights, and even CROSSxBEATS crash and/or lag pretty badly while Arcaea runs as smooth as butter on it! Mind blown! Why is this thread even desolate!? This is a top-tier mobile music game! So far, this music game will remain on my device as one of my permanent music apps, that includes jubeat plus, REFLEC BEAT plus, GROOVE COASTER 2, and Taiko no Tatsujin+. Once again, I gotta say that this game is polished as f***, we're talking damn-near Konami levels of polish here!! For a 10-month old game, it can even compete with the likes of Cytus II, and that's saying a lot! I'd even say that the way they're doing the microtransactions is the next best thing to direct DLC, which I can totally accept.
There are some microtransactions, but you can earn songs by simply playing the game in online mode while in offline mode, you could play everything that you earned from online mode. MAN!! For a mobile game, the production value and quality ( both visually and musically) of Arcaea is absolutely incredible!!! I would probably even go as far as calling this a AAA mobile title. Just found this game on the AppStore for the first time today!
